Did You Know? How to Find Your Jeep Vehicle's Easter Eggs

From the "Jeep Wave" to "It's a Jeep Thing," becoming a Jeep owner is more than buying an incredible off-road capable vehicle. Jeep ownership is an attitude and lifestyle you can share with other Jeep owners around Chicago and nationwide. Another fun part of Jeep ownership is finding Easter Eggs. Ever since the 1990 production year, Jeep designers started marking certain vehicles with their own personal touches, and a tradition was born! A Jeep Easter Egg is a hidden feature meant as a message, tribute, or treat for the owner to find. Our team loves going through our new Jeep inventory at Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Chicago to find rare Easter Eggs.

Popular Jeep Easter Eggs and Where to Find Them

Here are some of the most well-known Jeep Easter Eggs and where to find them:

  • Jeep Wranglers and some Jeep vehicle wheels sport a Vintage Willys Jeep decal.
  • Jeep Gladiators may have flip-flops hidden in the cowl (the space between the windshield and hood). These flip flops celebrate Rick Pewe, an automotive journalist.
  • Some Jeep vehicles have a topographical map of Moab, Utah on the gear shifter.

  • Some Jeep Renegades have paint splatter on the redline inspired by a staff paintball game where a Jeep vice president of interior design had paint-splattered goggles.
  • A Loch Ness Monster on the rear window of some Jeep Compass models to signify the water fording capabilities up to 19 inches.
  • A T-rex chasing a Willys Jeep that is chasing BigFoot. You might also find a Willys Jeep on roof latches or a molded T-rex skull in the floor mats.
  • Jeep Liberties with a stamped "JL" under their hoods and Morse code that stands for "JL" under the L.
  • Some lucky Jeep model owners have found a gecko hiding under the windshield wipers! The gecko is a nod to the Jeep model's superior grip on the road.
  • A Homage to the Past

  • The Jeep brand started with the original Willys that were instrumental in helping Allied forces win World War II. To commemorate its patriotic roots, some Jeep models have an American flag-shaped C-pillar vent.
  • A common Jeep Renegade easter egg is a spider saying, "Ciao, baby!" on the fuel door.
  • Some Jeep Gladiators have the number "419" engraved into the rear, the area code for Toledo, Ohio, where it's manufactured.
